Geotechnical Investigations and Foundation Engineering

Ground Investigation and Foundation Recommendations for Safer Development

TTS Engineering & Consultancy Services undertakes geotechnical engineering assessments to support the planning and structural design of buildings, retaining walls and other developments. Our approach is to understand the site conditions, identify important ground-related risks and provide practical engineering recommendations suited to the scale of the project.

OUR SERVICES

Practical solutions for real building needs.

Ground conditions can vary significantly even within a single site. The type and depth of soil, presence of rock, groundwater and slope conditions can influence foundation size, founding level and the suitability of the proposed development.

We provide site assessments and selected in-situ investigations for suitable small- and medium-scale projects, together with foundation recommendations and engineering reports. Additional specialist investigations may be recommended where the available testing is insufficient.

OUR TECHNICAL APPROACH

Our technical approach.

Our Geotechnical Engineering Approach. The following design and assessment services are tailored to the particular project requirements and available site information.

01

Site Reconnaissance and Ground Assessment

We inspect the existing terrain, slope conditions, drainage patterns, nearby structures and signs of ground movement or uncontrolled filling. Available survey plans and proposed architectural layouts are reviewed to identify areas requiring closer investigation.

02

Mackintosh Probe and DCP Testing

Where suitable for the ground conditions and project scope, we undertake Mackintosh Probe and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests to obtain an indication of soil resistance and changes in ground stiffness with depth. These are preliminary or supplementary investigations, and results are interpreted with due regard to the limitations of each test.

03

Soil Bearing Capacity and Foundation Recommendations

We interpret available investigation results together with site conditions and relevant engineering experience to develop preliminary or project-specific foundation recommendations. The required founding level, probable soil bearing resistance, settlement risk and suitability of shallow foundations are considered where sufficient information is available.

04

Foundation Design Coordination

Ground investigation findings are coordinated with the structural loading and proposed building arrangement. We provide recommendations on isolated, combined or other appropriate foundation systems, including the need for improved ground, deeper founding levels or further specialist investigations when warranted.

05

Slope Conditions and Stability Considerations

For sloping sites, we review the proposed excavation, filling, surface drainage, retaining structures and location of buildings in relation to slope geometry. Where a formal slope stability assessment is required, adequate ground investigation and reliable soil parameters must be available.

06

Geotechnical Reporting and NBRO Submissions

We prepare engineering reports describing site observations, investigation methods, interpreted results and foundation or slope-related recommendations, including relevant drawings and cross-sections where available. Reports can support submissions to NBRO and local authorities when required, subject to the scope and any specific requirements issued by those authorities.

OUR COMMITMENT

Safe Structures,
Smart Solutions.

Our aim is to provide technically sound and practical geotechnical recommendations based on the information available for each site. We clearly identify the limitations of investigations and advise when more detailed testing or specialist assessment is needed.
